Pat Mahomes Sr. is making big life changes and hitting significant milestones.

Ahead of the Super Bowl this year, Patrick Mahomes Sr., father to Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, was arrested for a DWI for the third time. Mahomes Sr. has an arrest history in Texas, mostly for alcohol and drug issues.

At the time of his arrest, Mahomes had a Coors tallboy in his cupholder, and he later admitted that he “had a few beers” at a local bar while watching a game before getting behind the wheel. He might have gotten off easier had he been honest when he was pulled over, but denial of ingesting alcohol combined with a field sobriety test confirmed his intoxication.

After he posted his $10,000 bond, his family was concerned that he could face up to ten years in prison as it was his third arrest.

Yesterday, though, the former major league pitcher shared some great news on social media: He is hitting major milestones in being six months sober. Mahomes Sr. took to social media to thank his family and friends who have helped him on this journey and continue to support him.

“I would like to Thank my God wife family and friends for 6 months on the sunny side of the road. I know it’s been hard getting to know sober Pat, but it’s well worth it. Trisha Mahomes, thanks for all you do.”

He shared the news with an image of himself and former MLB player and manager Pete Rose at The Palms Celebrity Golf Tournament. Mahomes Sr. did choose an interesting editing choice, cropping out his head, but despite that, the comments were flooded with support.

Congratulations, Patrick Mahomes Sr., we hope to continue celebrating these milestones.
