New NBH Football Head Coach Talks About Taking Over Buc's Program
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The new head football coach at North Bay Haven, Thomas Elliot knows he has a tough task ahead, and he’s ready to get things rolling this week. Elliot named to that post late last week. This being his third high school head coaching job. Monday I spoke with the Buc’s new leader about his taking over a football program that’s still relatively speaking, pretty young. “That’s always something you know is a good thing.” the coach told me “Because you have the option to kind of put your mark on a program that maybe doesn’t really have any, doesn’t have tradition or anything like that. You kind of get to start those traditions and hopefully make sure that everybody’s moving in the correct, you know the right direction. You know culture, all that stuff. My goal at North Bay Haven is not to build a team. You know teams transfer all over the place. I want to build a program.” The Buc’s coming off a 5-5 season after which Matt Knauss was let go after his lone season there. Elliot now the 5th coach for North Bay Haven in 8 years, so it is looking for stability. “You know if I can turn North Bay Haven into its own brand to where you know it can weather pretty much any storm as a school and as a program, that’s kind of that’s kind of my goal.” Elliot told me as our conversation continued. “That’s the mindset. A lot of these kids that are coming out didn’t know when to be where to be. So Thursday, they sent out a big email to everybody and I think Thursday I’m going to meet parents and kids so I finally kind of get in front of all of them.
