Police said they were called to an apartment on W. 13th Street at around 9:46 a.m. Upon arriving, the responding officer said they heard five loud bangs that sounded like gunshots, according to the criminal complaint WTAJ received. They noted a man was heard yelling for help and then they heard a woman screaming.

After pounding on the door, police said that Lucena came running down the stairs and opened it. He claimed someone was trying to kill him. Police noted in the charges that Lucena has a history of paranoia and anytime EMS is called to the residence, an officer is dispatched to ensure safety.

According to the complaint, police found a Stroeger STR-9 pistol on the floor of the apartment and spent shell casings in the bedroom. A broken window with glass lying outside of the building — signifying it was broken from the inside — was also seen, they noted.

A woman in the residence told police that Lucena thought someone was trying to kill him and he fired the gun. She continued by saying that he was about to run down and open the door with the gun in his hand, but she screamed at him and he dropped it.

Police noted that one of the bullets cut through a cable of a neighboring house, leaving them without electricity. A neighbor said he was outside of their home when they heard at least four gunshots, the charges read.

According to the complaint, police, along with state troopers, photographed and collected evidence from the apartment and administered a gunshot residue test on Lucena’s hands.

Lucena is in Blair County Prison with bail set at $100,000.
