PHOENIX — On a night when the first 30,000 fans in attendance received a National League Championship replica ring, the Arizona Diamondbacks (65-53) dominated the Philadelphia Phillies (69-48) with a commanding 11-1 victory in the third game of their four-game series Saturday night at Chase Field.

The 46,183 fans in attendance watched as Ketel Marte jumped on a 77.6 mph knuckle curve from Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola in the bottom of the first, launching it 406 feet over the right-center field fence for a solo home run, giving the Diamondbacks an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Eugenio Suárez singled to left but was thrown out at second base by Brandon Marsh while trying to stretch it into a double.

Geraldo Perdomo then laced a ground-rule double into the right-field corner, Jose Herrera walked, and Corbin Carroll hit into a potential double play, but Perdomo scored on a fielding error by first baseman Bryce Harper, making it 2-0.

In the top of the fourth, Garrett Stubbs attempted to stretch a single into a double, sliding headfirst into second base, where his momentum carried him into Marte’s left ankle.

After a brief visit from D-backs assistant athletic trainer Max Esposito, manager Torey Lovullo replaced Marte with Kevin Newman. Marte appeared to be in discomfort as he hobbled off the field unassisted. His injury was later reported as a left ankle contusion.

In the top of the fifth, Kyle Schwarber drew a walk, Trea Turner doubled, and Bryce Harper’s RBI groundout made it 2-1.

On the play, while spinning toward second, D-backs starter Zac Gallen (9-5, 3.69 ERA) appeared to strain his right groin. After a visit from assistant athletic trainer Esposito, Kevin Ginkel replaced Gallen.

Until the apparent injury, Gallen was solid, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 87 pitches. He primarily relied on his knuckle curve 33 times (38%) and his four-seam fastball 31 times (36%).

Following a double play by Philadelphia in the bottom of the fifth, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. doubled, and Jake McCarthy launched a two-run home run to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead to 4-1.

Sending 10 hitters to the plate during a seven-run seventh inning, the D-backs broke the game open. Newman walked, Joc Pederson singled, and Josh Bell’s two-run double made it 6-1.

With Bell on second, McCarthy ripped his second home run of the game, a two-run, 420-foot shot to right field, pushing the lead to 8-1.

With one away, Suárez singled, Perdomo singled, and Carroll hit a two-run, two-out home run—his 10th of the year—making it 11-1.

    Diamondbacks Relievers

Ginkel (7-2, 2.98 ERA) pitched admirably in relief, delivering 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts on 23 pitches to earn his seventh win of the year.

Joe Mantiply followed Ginkel, pitching 1 scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout on 13 pitches.

Scott McGough pitched 2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with 1 walk and no strikeouts on 30 pitches.
