PHOENIX– The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will host a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15, to discuss proposed enhancements for State Route 347, which connects the city of Maricopa to Interstate 10.

The meeting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center, located at 18160 N. Maya Angelou Drive in Maricopa, in Redwood Rooms A/B.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a 30-minute open house, followed by a presentation on preliminary recommendations, and a session for questions and comments, according to ADOT.

    Key proposed improvements include:

Widening SR 347: The project proposes adding one lane in each direction between I-10 and Maricopa, alongside the expansion of bridges at Santa Rosa Wash, Santa Cruz Wash, and the Gila River. Intersection upgrades at Borgia Road (Sacate Road) and Maricopa Road are also included.

Design work began in 2023 and is expected to continue for two years, though construction funding has yet to be allocated, according to ADOT.

Riggs Road Interchange: The plan includes constructing an interchange at Riggs Road, featuring a bridge to separate SR 347 traffic from cross-street traffic. A study is expected to be completed by 2025, with construction projected to start in late 2027 and last 12 to 18 months.

Intersection Improvements at Casa Blanca Road and Mammoth Way: The project design started in 2023, with plans to advertise for construction in mid-2025. The work is anticipated to take around 12 months to complete.

Meeting materials will be posted to the State Route 347 Corridor Projects website at azdot.gov/347 before Aug. 15.
