    New evacuations in southern Morrow County from Boneyard Fire and Battle Mountain Complex

    UKIAH, Ore. -- Updated at 12:30 a.m.: There are new Level 3 (GO NOW!) evacuations for the Boneyard Fire in southern Morrow County. The following areas are impacted:

    North from Forest Service Road 21 to the approximate intersection of Forest Service Road 21 and Forest Service Road 2104 and East from Board Creek Road to the East Morrow County line


    The Battle Mountain Complex started as a series of lightning fires on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, near Ukiah, Oregon. The Boneyard Fire is a lightning fire that started the same day, 3.5 miles northeast of Turner Mountain in Grant County, Oregon. Below is a list of up to date information on both fires.

    Level 3 (GO NOW!) Evacuations:

    • UMC-307, UMC-309, UMC-311, UMC-323, & UMC-325
    • From the South Morrow County line, North to Forest Service RD 21/ Forest Service RD 2105.  And East from the Morphine Spring RD to the East Morrow County Line.
    • From the South Morrow County line, North to Forest Service RD 21/ Forest Service RD 2105.  And East from the Morphine Spring RD to the East Morrow County Line
    • North from Forest Service Road 21 to the approximate intersection of Forest Service Road 21 and Forest Service Road 2104 and East from Board Creek Road to the East Morrow County line

    Level 2 (BE SET!) Evacuations: UKI-313, UMC-319, UMC-321, & UMC-327

    Level 1 (GET READY) Evacuations: UMC-301, UMC-303, UMC-305, UMC-315, , & UMC-317

    Closures:

    • A road closure remains in effect for Highway 395, between mile posts 50 through 90, beginning 35 miles South of Pilot Rock.
    • Starting at the Proclaimed Boundary of Heppner Ranger District where it meets with Ranger District Boundary between NFJD and Heppner Ranger Districts in T. 6 S., R, 29 E., Section 32 follow the Ranger District Boundary North until you meet the Proclaimed boundary of Heppner Ranger District turn west following the Proclaimed Boundary around until you reach the starting point at the Proclaimed Boundary of Heppner Ranger District were it meets the Ranger District Boundary between NFJD and Heppner Ranger Districts in T. 6 S., R. 29 E., Section 32.

    NF Owen Fire Acreage: 4,485

    NF Owen Fire Containment: 40%

    Monkey Creek Acreage: 56,139

    Monkey Creek Fire Containment: 0%

    Boneyard Fire Acreage: 49,716

    Boneyard Fire Containment: 3%

    Battle Mountain Complex Resources: There are 678 total personnel on this fire, including 18 hand crews, 34 engines, 16 water tenders, 10 dozers, and 6 helicopters.

    Battle Mountain Complex Cost: The estimated cost of this firefight is already up to $3.5 million.

    Boneyard Fire Resources: There are 592 total personnel, including 19 hand crews, 25 engines, 12 water tenders, 17 dozers, and 2 helicopters

    Boneyard Fire Cost: The estimated cost of this firefight is $1.6 million.
