Charlotte has made significant strides in improving economic mobility for its low-income residents, according to data from a national study released Thursday. The report, Changing Opportunity: Sociological Mechanisms Underlying Growing Class Gaps and Shrinking Race Gaps in Economic Mobility, is a 10-year follow-up to a 2014 report that placed Charlotte dead last among 50 major U.S. cities in terms of economic mobility. Both studies were led by Harvard University professor and economist Raj Chetty of Opportunity Insights.
Restaurant with a wood-fired food focus is ready to open newest Charlotte area location
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is opening a new location in Fort Mill on Aug. 26 at Mills Crossing on SC-160, bringing smoky flavors and a fiery focus.
