It is known as the “Final Program Environmental Impact Report for the Blueprint SD Initiative, Hillcrest Focused Plan Amendment to the Uptown Community Plan, and University Community Plan and Local Coastal Program Update”, or Final PEIR.

Hello University City! 👋😀 We hope you are enjoying your Summer as much as we are. While school is out for most of us and many of us are thinking of vacations and taking time off, community groups such as UCPG and UCCA continue to meet … and City Council committees, the Land Use and Housing Committee, and the City Council continue to conduct hearings and schedule votes. We even have changes to two construction projects in our area that impact Governor, Genesee, and Nobel!

Both the planning group (UCPG) and the community association (UCCA) meet this week: UCPG meets on Tuesday, July 9, at 6 PM and UCCA meets on Wednesday, July 10, at 5:30 PM in person at the UC Community Library. Pure Water Construction Alert: Nobel from Genesee to Towne Centre
From Pure Water San Diego July 2024: Pure Water Construction Continues on Nobel Drive for the Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels Project. In early July, construction crews will start a new phase of construction in the westbound lanes of Nobel Drive between Via Las Rambles and Lombard Place. This work is part of the City of San Diego Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels project in University City. After setting up new traffic control, crews will continue installing one 48-inch wastewater pipeline and one 30-inch brine pipeline. Working hours for this segment will be from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and occasionally on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This work will continue through Summer 2024. The City and project team are committed to completing construction as efficiently as possible with safety as our highest priority, and the community’s patience and coordination are appreciated.

University City Improv. 1: Governor Drive CIP Improvements Underway
A City of San Diego Capital Improvements Program (CIP) project is underway to improve the water and sewer infrastructure in the University City area. The University City Improv. 1 project will replace approximately 10,170 linear feet (1.93 miles of existing water mains and install approximately 8,896 linear feet (1.68 miles) of new sewer mains.
SDUT: City’s Land Use and Housing Committee approves plans for Hillcrest and University City
From San Diego Union Tribune published June 13, 2024 at 7:26 p.m., updated June 13, 2024 at 9:18 p.m.: Proposals to potentially double the populations of Hillcrest and University City by allowing high-rise housing in more places got unanimous approval Thursday from the San Diego City Council’s housing committee. Those unanimous 4-0 and 3-0 approvals, which came despite ardent protests from residents about gentrification and congestion, signal that the proposals are likely to be OK’d by the full nine-member council in July.
