It’s the last month of the year and there’s still a lot going on in University City with both the UCPG Planning Group meeting to discuss planning group reforms; and the City Council meeting to review the Mayor’s proposal for Housing Action Package 2.0 changes on Tuesday, December 12. Congratulations to UCCA’s new Executive Team – Jemma Samala (president), Jim Beshears (vice-president), Phil Fowler (treasurer), and Katie Rodolico (recording secretary). I’m thrilled that Jemma, a long time University City resident and volunteer with tons of experience, will assume the role of president along with her exec team on December 1. Please read their bios in the November newsletter, page 4; and welcome them when you have a chance. Their email addresses will be in the December newsletter. I will stay on the UCCA board as the Corresponding Secretary and assume the title of Past President.

November 2023 Construction Alert: Construction Continues on Genesee Avenue heading north from Governor Drive
From Pure Water San Diego: Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, pipeline construction continues along Genesee Avenue heading north from Governor Drive as part of the City of San Diego Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels project in University City. Construction teams will install one 48-inch wastewater pipeline and one 30-inch brine pipeline in a 16-foot-deep trench in the southbound lanes of Genesee Ave.
