October 2023 – Pure Water construction continues on Genesee and Governor; expect congestion and delays
Construction continues in the University City area for the Morena Northern Pipelines & Tunnels project, part of Pure Water San Diego Phase 1 construction. At the Genesee Avenue and Governor Drive intersection, construction work began in September 2023. The work is scheduled at night, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for four to six weeks. The intersection will be open for traffic and pedestrians during the daytime. Please expect delays and allow for additional time traveling through the construction zone.

NBC7: F/A-18 fighter jet crash under investigation on MCAS Miramar
Update from Union-Tribune 8:13 AM 08-25-2023 – Pilot killed in military jet crash at Miramar air base. A Marine pilot was killed when a F/A-18D Hornet fighter jet crashed late Thursday near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar base, military officials said. The jet crashed just before 11:55 p.m. Thursday on government property east of the air station. The downed plane was part of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing with the Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron, officials with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing announced Friday morning.

City changes Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Survey and Ranking Procedures; Seeks Community Input with Infrastructure Priorities Survey
From Diane Ahern, University City Community Association (UCCA) President: The City has changed the way they rank Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) this year; no longer do they have to be ranked by Planning Groups. Anyone, including Community Recreation Groups, Fire Safe Councils, Library Friends, Community Associations … and individuals who are not associated with any particular group … can submit a capital improvement project (CIP) idea by filling out the Infrastructure Priorities Survey.
