Guilty plea entered by Tampa resident in major drug trafficking case
Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced that Zecki Halum, 40, from Tampa, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute over 100 kilograms of marijuana. Halum faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 5 years and up to 40 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Discarded fireworks spark residential fire in Tampa
TAMPA, Florida — A residential fire early this morning in South Tampa was caused by improperly discarded fireworks, according to Tampa Fire Rescue. At 12:55 a.m., Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a reported trash fire on the 7700 block of S. O'Brien St. Firefighters arrived to find a three-story residence with a vehicle on fire, which was spreading to the front corner of the structure. The fires within the structure and vehicle were extinguished within 20 minutes, and a primary and secondary search confirmed no occupants were inside the residence. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters at the scene.
