Leading up to the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Westfield Country Club was the state-wide center for Ohio golf, hosting the 103rd Ohio Open Championship. The Ohio Open, one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the state, has been won by Ohio golfing legends such as Jack Nicklaus (1956), Byron Nelson (1940-41-42), Herman Keiser (1951), Denny Shute (1929-30-31-1950), Tom Weiskopf (1965), and Billy Burke (1938-39-45-55). But, of the record total of 288 professionals (135) and amateurs (154) from throughout Ohio that entered, a new champion would join some of the game of golf’s all-time greats.

City Celebrates McGill Park Pickleball Courts Grand Opening
The City of Canal Winchester is preparing for a grand opening of the McGill Park pickleball courts on Thursday, July 18. Members of the public and local media are invited to join staff for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the park, located at 6725 Lithopolis-Winchester Road, at 5:00 PM to commemorate the opening. Following the ceremony, the inaugural game will be played by Mayor Joe Steager and Council President Will Bennett. The City will also be handing out custom pickleballs to the first 100 guests.
