A warehousing and distribution company announced it is shutting down a location in Upper Macungie Township, affecting more than 100 workers.

A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification recently was issued by New Jersey-based Customized Distribution Services Inc. for its distribution center at 8400 Industrial Blvd. Federal law requires employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a closing or mass layoff.

The WARN notice affects 107 workers and goes into effect Oct. 7 and ends Dec. 31. The reason listed for the layoffs is closure.

Representatives from CDS were not immediately available for comment. The company has another Lehigh Valley location at 1960 Weaversville Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

According to the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp., more than 24,000 Lehigh Valley residents are employed in transportation and warehousing.
