FULTON COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER ULTRASOUND SERVICES EXPANDS HOURS
The Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg is pleased to announce the expansion of ultrasound imaging hours. FCMC Imaging is extending ultrasound imaging hours to better serve the community. The new hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with additional appointments available throughout the day. Please note that ultrasound exams require a provider’s order.

Fourth person given life sentence for 2016 Mercersburg contract killings
22 July 2024- The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that Christopher Van Johnson, age 36, of Baltimore, Maryland, was sentenced on July 17, 2024, to 7 consecutive life sentences for his role in the June 25, 2016 murders of three individuals in Mercersburg, Franklin County, one of whom was cooperating with state and federal drug investigators. The sentence was imposed by United States District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner, who also sentenced to concurrent 10, 20, and 30-year terms of imprisonment on companion robbery, firearms, and conspiracy charges.

Carlisle Man Arrested for Attempted Homicide Following Stabbing Incident
On the morning of July 20, 2024, a serious stabbing incident occurred in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, resulting in the arrest of a local man. Anna âAnnâ Louise (Davis) Deckert, 80 of Gettysburg passed away on July 20, 2024 at the Gettysburg Hospital after a long illness. Born on October 26, 1943 in Gettysburg, she was the second child of Betty Kroushour Leonard and Lester Davis. She was the wife of James H. Deckert of Gettysburg and mother of two sons, Bradley Deckert and Chad Deckert.

Viola Mae (McGlaughlin) Miller, 89 of Gettysburg, PA passed away at the Gettysburg Hospital on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Born January 27, 1935 in Fairfield, PA she was the daughter of the late Ralph & Leila (Warren) McGlaughlin. Viola was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Jack R. Miller, who died December 06, 2015. She enjoyed knitting, tending to her garden and canning fruits and vegetables. The most important thing in her life was her family and the joy of spending time, caring for and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Viola will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her three children, Francis R. Miller (Karen) of Orrtanna, PA, Donna L. Cooper (Steve) Abbottstown, PA and Wendy A. Schubbe of Gettysburg, six grandchildren, Jason Miller (Jody), Justin Ryder (Kami), Rebecca Shartzer (Tommy), Allyson Mangum (Michael), Madyson Schubbe (Ryan Hanson) and Jackson Hilbert, six great grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Grayson, Leila, Taylor and Emma, a brother, Roger McGlaughlin (Sandy) of York Springs, PA and a sister, Shirley Thomas (Ron) of Gettysburg. In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was predeceased by a sister, Doris Miller and a brother, Edwin McGlaughlin. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Pastor Allen Hersh, officiating. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral services on Friday, August 2nd.
