The Chambersburg Recreation Department is holding a Summer Splash Camp Monday, July 29, through Friday, Aug. 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Chambersburg Aquatic Center, 1 Washabaugh Way, Chambersburg, Pa. Group games, activities, mini golf, basketball or volleyball, and swimming. Swim skill test will be given the first day of camp to determine swim ability and to identify areas of the facility that may be used. $69 ($59 for borough residents). It’s time for the 2024 Hopewell Township Photo Contest!
Any amateur photographers out there? Hopewell Township residents can submit up to four images taken in Hopewell Township for our annual contest. Pictures must have been taken between October 31, 2023 and October 31, 2024 and are due by 11:59pm on October 31, 2024. Voting will take place in November and winners will be announced in 2025. Winners will have their pictures featured in the 2025 Municipal Calendar and hung in the Municipal Building Auditorium for the year.

Nurse charged with falsifying records after patient's death
A former nurse at WellSpan Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital has been accused of falsifying medical information following a patient's death, court documents show. Sara Miller, RN, has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of furnishing false or fraudulent medical information. The charges were filed by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General on July 16.

Slow traffic after two-vehicle crash reported in Chambersburg Borough

Knouse, Cipperly lead charge against G'burg zoning changes
Gettysburg Planning Commission accepted public comment on the borough’s ongoing zoning project Monday, as well as discussed two sections of the proposed document. The project began in March 2023, continuing through this May as a nine-member task force worked with a private consultant, Michael Baker International, under the direction of John Whitmore, borough director of planning, zoning and code enforcement, and his predecessor, Carly Marshall.
Carlisle school board hires new director of business operations
Michael Statler was hired Thursday as the new director of business operations for the Carlisle Area School District. The school board voted unanimously to appoint Statler to the position at a salary of $126,414. His first day with Carlisle will depend on how soon he can be released from his current job as business manager for Big Spring School District.
