Born January 27, 1935 in Fairfield, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Leila (Warren) McGlaughlin. Viola was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Jack R. Miller, who died December 6, 2015.
Carlisle man killed in motorcycle crash in Monroe Township Friday afternoon
State Police reported that a Carlisle man was killed in a motorcycle crash on York Road in Monroe Township Friday afternoon. Police said William Mack, 67, was operating a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on York Road at 1:24 p.m. Friday when he attempted to make a left turn onto Boiling Springs Road, but was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on York Road.

Sentinel police log for July 22
Carlisle Police (717-243-5252) Henry A. Gumby, 62, of Carlisle, was charged with attempted homicide and felony aggravated assault after a stabbing in the 400 block of North Hanover Street at 9:16 a.m. July 20. Police did not release details of what happened, but said that EMS and bystanders were helping a victim who suffered severe injuries to the face and neck. Gumby was determined to be the suspect and was located nearby. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Hanner, who denied bail given the attempted murder charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 24.

UPDATE: Late Friday night, Hagerstown Police issued an update stating one suspect is in custody. The investigation is ongoing and police were not yet releasing the names of those involved in Thursday's shooting.
