Women’s Soccer: UVA opens 2024 season with 2-0 win over Towson
The UVA women’s soccer team, picked sixth in the 17-team ACC in the 2024 preseason poll, opened the fall season with a 2-0 win over Towson on Thursday at Klöckner Stadium. Virginia was in the “also receiving votes” category of the preseason national Top 25, not exactly familiar territory for a program that has won five ACC titles and had made the NCAA Tournament 29 straight times before not getting an invite to the tournament in 2023.
Towson Women’s Volleyball Team No. 1 Preseason Pick in CAA
The Towson University women's volleyball team has been named the preseason favorite in the Coastal Athletic Association for the fourth consecutive year, securing five first-place votes and a total of 111 points. Delaware and Charleston closely follow with 107 and 101 points, respectively. Outside hitter Victoria Barrett received the CAA Preseason Player of the Year title after leading the league in kills and points last season. Strong performances from middle blocker Erin Brothers and libero Sydney Stewart earned them All-CAA honors as well. The Tigers will begin their 2024 season against Saint Francis on August 30.
