CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The month of July is not only America’s birth month, but National Ice Cream Month. The Main Scoop is celebrating both with free ice cream scoops for kids under the age of 10 for the entire month.

They just have to pass one test: recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

“We believe there is no better way to celebrate our nation’s birthday than with ice cream and kids reciting the Pledge of Allegiance,” the company said in a news release.

The offer is good at all four of The Main Scoop’s stores in Urbana, Mahomet, Monticello and Rantoul.

The Main Scoop is a member of the North American Ice Cream Association, which hopes to serve over a million ice cream cones during National Ice Cream Month. Staff also hinted that they would be doing something special to celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 21.
