    Champaign County plans next hazardous waste collection event

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The cities of Champaign and Urbana are coming together to plan a collection of household hazardous waste.

    The event will take place Saturday, August 17 in the southwest parking lot of the State Farm Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    High-risk lead exposure ZIP codes added to 11 Central IL counties: IDPH

    Some items accepted at the collection event include oil-based paints, pesticides, cleaning products and weed killers. Oil and gas containers can be returned upon request, and only household items will be accepted.

    Any Illinois resident can participate in the event which is partially sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Registration is required; to register, visit this website.
