URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Urbana Free Library is allowing people to test instruments to help find their musical matches.

Whether you’re a newcomer to the music scene or you’re an established artist, the library is offering access to their Music Equipment Collection. The collection includes string and percussion instruments, keyboards and synthesizers, amps, effect pedals and more.

Library staff can assist prospective players in deciding which instrument is a good fit for them. Instruments can even be rented out for a certain period of time to better weigh whether the player wants to commit to the craft.

The library’s collection offers recording equipment, as well. Staff members are also available to teach up-and-coming musicians how to use home recording tech.

The Urbana Free Library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. They are located at 210 West Green Street in Urbana.
