If you thought we were out of the woods with questionable Colorado football takes , you haven’t been paying attention to the national coverage the Buffs are receiving.

Earlier this week, ESPN its Week 1 Big 12 football primer , and Colorado was ranked No. 14 in the power rankings.

While the Buffs are coming off a 4-8 season, they are behind teams such as Baylor, which went 3-9 last year. ESPN’s Dave Wilson and Kyle Bonagura also claimed that Buffs quarterback Shedeur Sanders could be playing for the Heisman Trophy. A team with a Heisman QB doesn’t often finish 14th in its conference.

ESPN’s justification did not mention Colorado’s roster improvements but instead focused on head coach Deion Sanders:

After a last-place finish in the Pac-12 last year, the Deion Sanders marketing machine needs to show it can take care of business on the field.
