On3’s Jesse Simonton has Notre Dame football as a top-10 program ahead of the season

As the season quickly is approaching, multiple outlets are starting to rank their top-25 teams, and Notre Dame football has been viewed favorably.

On3’s Jesse Simonton ranked his best teams ahead of the year, and the Irish are his No. 9 overall squad. It’s a good spot for Marcus Freeman’s team, even though this poll doesn’t count for much.

Perception will go a long way with the expanded College Football Playoff, part of the process will most likely revolved around how the committee feels others perceive the top teams. Having many outlets and writers ranking Notre Dame high helps in the long run.

For the most part, many people have the Irish as a top-10 team, which seems appropriate given the talent on the roster. Hopefully Notre Dame can live up to the expectations, finish the season inside the top-12 and make the CFP.
