Sean McVay delivered engaging analysis while simultaneously coaching and talking to the Rams’ preseason announcers

At the helm of a consistent Los Angeles Rams playoff contender that has become an NFC superpower, Sean McVay has established himself as one of the NFL’s truly premier coaches . If he ever decides to leave the sideline and go into the TV booth, there should be little doubt he’d also be excellent at the gig.

Sunday’s preseason game between McVay’s Rams and the Dallas Cowboys only helps prove it.

Late in the first half, McVay got a microphone to talk to the broadcast booth featuring Andrew Siciliano, Mina Kimes, and Andrew Whitworth. This turned into McVay providing live analysis of the Rams’ play while providing additional context into different things like what a player has been through recently, where he thinks they excel, and why they made a difference … while coaching.

Just try and tell me that you couldn’t hear McVay doing this as an official color analyst down the line:

The best McVay moment might have come when Dallas kicker Brandon Aubrey launched a chip shot through the uprights. As Aubrey made his attempt, we got to hear McVay’s inner, more honest thoughts about his hoping for a miss. When Siciliano corrected him, saying the kick was good, McVay jokingly called the announcer a jerk for forgetting that he had the better broadcast angle:

Incredible. He’s such a natural.

I know that Fox just signed Tom Brady as their main color analyst for a long time. But if McVay ever wants to jump into the booth after his coaching career, I’m just saying that hearing him as the lead analyst on CBS or for NBC would be delightful. I’m so confident that he’d be an absolute star.
