On ESPN, former New York Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum highlights difficulty in trading Haason Reddick

Former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannebaum (now an ESPN analyst) doesn’t believe that Haason Reddick is movable, this after the All-Pro edge requested a trade on Monday.

The Jets made a trade earlier this offseason with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire Reddick, who has since held out of training camp in search of a new contract. Now on Monday, reports leaked out that Reddick wanted a trade, pointing to what seems to be a significant impasse between the player and the team.

Reddick is under contract in 2024 for a base salary of $14.25 million and then is currently set for free agency. His production is certainly among the best in the NFL over the past four years and he is severely underpaid.

On Monday afternoon, the Jets issued a statement that they would not seek a trade for their edge rusher. Tannenbaum, who said on ESPN that he thinks the Jets are a playoff team, tweeted out that even if the Jets wanted to trade Reddick, it would remain a challenge:

First off, could the Jets get back the third round pick that they sent to the Eagles (or a package of picks even). There is also the fact that the Jets acquired Reddick to be a bookend for Jermaine Johnson, giving them potentially the best passrushing duo in the AFC East and perhaps the league.
