Grayland Arnold went from competing for a starting role in the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary to being sidelined in the blink of an eye.

The Steelers announced on Thursday that Arnold was going to injured reserve after he sustained a calf injury during the team’s final training camp practice.

Arnold, 26, signed with the Steelers after spending the last three seasons with the Texans. He’s logged 33 tackles since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

One man’s loss is another man’s gain, and undrafted free agent Beanie Bishop is now in the pole position for the starting slot corner spot.

Cory Trice is another name to watch as one who could potentially compete for the slot role. Trice, the team’s seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, was off to a fast start in training camp last season before suffering a torn ACL.

To replace Arnold, the Steelers signed former Cleveland Browns defensive back Kiondre Thomas.
