Longhorns fans are hoping for a historic 2024 season that ends in a national title. A tough schedule could be cause for concern.

Playing as a member of the SEC for the first time, Texas faces top-ranked Georgia, rivals Oklahoma and Texas A&M and some tricky opponents like Florida and Arkansas. Plus, a Week 2 non-conference tilt against Michigan.

But the ESPN Football Power Index favors Texas in all but one game, the October 19th clash with No. 1 Georgia.

Digging deeper, the index lists Texas’ chances to go undefeated, go to the playoffs and win the national championship.

    ESPN Football Power Index:

    • Projected wins: 10.0
    • Projected losses: 2.4
    • Win out: 6.8%
    • Six wins: 99.1%
    • Win SEC: 24.2%
    • Make playoff: 67.8%
    • Make national championship game: 20.6%
    • Win national championship: 11.4%
