Last week, it was announced Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers would star in this season’s ‘Fansville’ series of commercials for Dr Pepper.

‘Fansville’ is a satirical episodic drama from Plano, TX based soda company set in a fictional college town. The popular series of commercials is in its seventh season. The Texas QB will play Deputy Quinn Ewers alongside series regular Oklahoma Sooners legend Brian Bosworth, who plays the town’s Sheriff.

As part of the announcement, Dr Pepper released the first two episodes of the series. In episode one, Ewers told the audience “I’m a new character.”

Now, the third installment has been released and it heavily features Ewers. In it, Sheiff Bosworth tells Deputy Ewers to call for backup. Ewers insists multiple times he doesn’t need backup, “… even if he has great hair and famous relatives.”

The line is an obvious playful reference to Ewers backup Arch Manning. Ewers then reminds a frustrated Bosworth that he made it to the playoff “without any backup.”

The commercials will air throughout the season during college football games. Ewers discussed his role in the series and his excitement of partnering with a company that shares his Texas heritage with SI.

“I feel like Dr Pepper has always been a huge part of college football. Thinking back since I was a kid, I remember just always seeing Dr Pepper, whether that had been their tuition giveaway or these Fansville commercials. So being able to be a part of that is pretty special. Also, it’s a Texas brand. They were formed in Texas. That always adds a little bit to it for sure.” – Texas QB Quinn Ewers
