Dabo Swinney explains no more live calls on radio show, if ‘Tyler from Spartanburg’ affected the change

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney unveiled a revamped version of his radio show on Monday, shifting away from live fan calls. The new format, now called “Tiger Sports Hour,” focuses on text-based questions rather than the traditional call-in format.

Swinney shared that the change had been in the works for some time when asked about the reason behind the switch. The goal is to enhance the show’s content and provide a broader range of discussion topics.

“They’ve been talking about it a while to make a change to the format,” Swinney noted. “We wanted to be able to cover more ground and engage with a wider audience.”

The decision to move away from live calls wasn’t solely influenced by last season’s memorable exchange with fan Tyler from Spartanburg, although Swinney acknowledged that it was a factor.

“That certainly didn’t help the calls, that’s for sure,” he admitted. Despite the change, Swinney spoke positively about Tyler, saying, “He is a great Clemson man and always will be.”

“Tiger Sports Hour” now airs on Mondays from 8-9 p.m. on The Roar, where fans can text their questions instead of calling in.
