The Los Angeles Chargers have signed former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver Jaylen Johnson to their practice squad, according to Gavin Borquez of Chargers Wire. He was waived due to the final roster cuts, but it didn’t take long for the Chargers to pick him back up again.

UGA fans should remember him for two things. The first one was the beginning of his career, where he impressively made the team as a walk-on freshman. His UGA career spanned from 2019-2021, where he totaled 49 yards and no touchdowns on five receptions. Unfortunately, with Georgia receivers like Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers on the roster, he transferred to Eastern Carolina University. Johnson totaled 806 yards and six touchdowns on 71 receptions during his time at ECU.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound wide receiver was as hidden of a talent as you can get. He didn’t get many opportunities at Georgia, but his talent shined through at Eastern Carolina. Chargers fans and Bulldogs fans are hoping his talent shines through in the NFL someday.
