It’s no secret that Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young had himself a pretty rough rookie campaign. And even despite his unenviable situation—one with swift coaching turnover, offensive line woes and a lack of depth at receiver—the 2023 No. 1 overall pick has been roasted quite a bit by fans ever since.

But while those outside of the game have questioned his ability to thrive in the NFL, those inside of it may have a more positive outlook on the 23-year-old.

ESPN recently conducted a poll about the league’s quarterbacks, asking 103 NFL players six questions about the state of the highly-publicized position. When it came to naming the most underrated passer, Young received seven votes—tied for the third-most alongside Atlanta’s Kirk Cousins, Detroit’s Jared Goff and Green Bay’s Jordan Love.

Now, those three quarterbacks are coming off what could be the best years of their careers. Young, meanwhile, is coming off one where he averaged just 179.8 passing yards per game.

Nonetheless, fellow players seemingly understand Young’s struggles, and still respect him as a quarterback at this level. So maybe he can prove his peers correct with a breakout 2024.
