Fantasy football: Where to draft Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin

    By Payton Shanks,

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin is coming off his 3rd-straight 1,000-yard receiving season and his 4th in 5 years. Last season was the 1st time since Godwin’s sophomore season in 2018 that he was fully healthy and didn’t miss a game. Godwin’s TD numbers have slightly gone down since his career-high 9 TD campaign in 2019-20. He only had 2 TDs last season.

Below, we look at Chris Godwin’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Entering 2024, he is expected to have another solid season as he and fellow Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans are among the most consistent yardage wideouts in the league.

    Chris Godwin’s ADP: 72.11

Godwin’s 72.11 ADP in redraft leagues puts him in the range of the 6th to 10th round depending on the size of the league. His ADP ranks 3rd on the Bucs, behind RB Rachaad White (30.35) and Evans (31.32).

Among all wide receivers, Godwin’s ADP puts him 33rd at the position. He’s behind Houston’s Tank Dell (70.56), Chicago’s Keenan Allen (67.28) and Washington’s Terry McLaurin (66.19), while ranking ahead of Bills rookie Keon Coleman (73.94), Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk (75.79) and Tennessee’s Calvin Ridley (76.74).

    Where should you draft Godwin?

Godwin’s fantasy value will be a little lower this season than in years past, especially with the continued regression of his receiving TD numbers and his lowest number of receptions (83) since the Covid season of 2020 when he had 65 receptions in 12 games.

Godwin is still a very solid receiver that you can expect to exceed 1,000 receiving yards as he has done consistently throughout his career.

The biggest worry with drafting Godwin is that Evans will take a good number of targets away from Godwin, something he’s been dealing with his entire career. Another concern is that the Bucs lost offensive coordinator Dave Canales, who was hired as Carolina’s coach in the offseason. So, the Bucs offense may not be as strong as it was last season.

I would feel very confident in drafting Godwin as a high-end WR3 or a low-end WR2 if you prioritize other positions in the draft based on your draft position. Godwin is a very solid receiver and you can pretty much know what you’ll get from him week in and week out. As a reliable depth pick at the wideout position, there aren’t many options better than Godwin.
