The Atlanta Falcons defensive line could have a big game when the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town this Sunday to kick off the 2024 NFL season. Steelers starting left guard Isaac Seumalo has been ruled out for Week 1, head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday afternoon.

Seumalo, a former third-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, signed a three-year deal with Pittsburgh in 2023 and started all 17 games last season. Second-year offensive lineman Spencer Anderson will replace Seumalo at left guard on Sunday. Anderson, a seventh-round pick in 2023, will make his first career start.

Seumalo will be one of two Steelers offensive linemen making their first career start in Week 1. Rookie Zach Frazier will get the start at center for Pittsburgh. We know Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith likes to run the ball and Seumalo is arguably the team’s best run blocker.

Quarterback Russell Wilson will get the start against Atlanta, but Tomlin said backup Justin Fields could also get playing time. Check back for the Falcons’ first regular season depth chart later this afternoon.
