Damar Hamlin will be on the field with the starting defense when the Buffalo Bills host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

He’s come a long way, a story that needs little introduction. From suffering cardiac arrest in a live NFL game to now being named an opening-day starter. Simply a remarkable journey.

“What else can’t this young man do?” Buffalo head coach McDermott said via video conference.

Hamlin couldn’t help but be a bit emotional himself. Even so, the 26-year-old acknowledges the work has only just begun.

“I’m blessed, for many reasons. I have a second chance to do things the right way in many areas of my life,” Hamlin said.
