Former Wisconsin linebacker Leo Chenal put on a show in the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

The UW star registered seven tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass deflections against the Ravens’ ultra-dynamic duo of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry.

While cornerback Jaylen Watson led the way with 11 combined tackles and future Hall of Fame defensive tackle Chris Jones recorded a sack, Chenal was easily the most impactful defender for Kansas City in the season opener.

The output earned him a 79.7 overall grade from ProFootballFocus, the fourth-best among the Chiefs’ entire star-studded roster.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 291 passing yards earned him a team-high 87.9 grade. Jones followed with an 83.0 and receiver Rashee Rice, who caught seven passes for 103 yards, received an 80.0 for his performance.

Two-time Pro Bowl center Creed Humphrey rounded out the top five with an overall grade of 79.4

Chenal is clearly floating in some dignified waters to begin his 2024 campaign. Following his first two Super Bowl-winning seasons the NFL, the UW alumnus is poised to continue his dominance for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo during the team’s quest for the first three-peat in NFL history.
