The Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants open their seasons at MetLife Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Vikings vs. Giants odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Vikes were dealt a tough blow when first-round QB J.J. McCarthy went down for the season with a knee injury. They turn to veteran QB Sam Darnold to get the ball to WRs Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. They brought RB Aaron Jones aboard from the Green Bay Packers, and he’ll pair with RB Ty Chandler in what could be an exciting duo in the backfield. The Vikings went 7-10 straight up and 7-7-3 ATS last season.

The G-Men welcome back QB Daniel Jones from injury and added RB Devin Singletary and first-round pick WR Malik Nabers in the offseason. So there isn’t a lot of continuity on offense, and it could take some time to gel. They went 6-11 straight up and 8-8-1 ATS last season.

Vikings at Giants picks and predictions

    Prediction

    Vikings 20, Giants 17

The Vikings have more firepower on offense, and they should come away with a W.

However, at -125, it makes more sense to take them on the spread.

Instead, take a look at DARIUS SLAYTON OVER 2.5 RECEPTIONS (+120). He had 3 grabs for 59 yards in his only preseason game Aug. 17, and had 3+ grabs in the final 4 games of his 2023 season. Nabers will command a lot of attention, which should open Slayton up consistently.

We’re rocking with the VIKINGS -1.5 (-110). Darnold isn’t going to blow you away on paper, but he’s a reliable QB with a dynamite receiving corps.

We’re going UNDER 41 (-110) here. Both teams went through significant changes on offense, and it will take some time for it to click. I look for a grind-it-out first half with a few more chances taken in the second half. But by that point, the Under will be well in hand.
