The Cincinnati Bengals were upset by the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The final score of the game was 16-10.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was held to just 164 yards passing in Cincinnati’s home opener and failed to throw a touchdown pass against New England’s stingy secondary.

Star wideout Ja’Marr Chase was on the field for the Bengals after a lengthy hold-in that marred Cincinnati’s preseason. He led the team in receiving with 62 yards on six receptions.

On defense, the Bengals were unable to force a turnover but held the Patriots’ offense in check throughout the matchup.

Despite their loss to New England, Cincinnati is expected to be among the AFC’s top teams and are sure to be well-prepared for their matchup against Kansas City on September 15.

For their part, the Chiefs dispatched the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night in an AFC Championship Game rematch to earn their first win of the NFL’s 2024 regular season.
