One of the officers fired a single shot , striking the boy. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Williams then admitted that the weapon was a pellet gun .

"Officers then recovered a replica GLOCK 17 handgun with a detachable magazine, but it was ultimately determined to be a pellet gun," Williams said.

Williams said the department will be releasing the body camera footage from the officers involved in the shooting and vowed to be as transparent as possible while the shooting is investigated.

The investigation into the officer-involved shooting will be handled by the New York State Attorney General's Office.
