    Utica home talent remains in first place with win over Footville

    The Utica Association earned a 5-2 win over the Footville Outlaws on Sunday, July 14 at Utica Field.

    Max Gartzke led the A’s, going 2x4 with two RBIs and a triple. Tyler Soule, Ben Hildebrandt and Connor Kalinowski each went 2x4 with an RBI.

    Jacob Sanders recorded two hits, while Brock Wanninger, Jason Hougan and Carson Knapp each had a base hit.

    On the mound, Wanninger pitched a complete game. Wanninger recorded seven strikeouts, gave up seven hits and allowed two earned runs. Wanninger remains undefeated in Sunday League starts this season.

    Utica (10-1 overall, 6-1 division) faces Cambridge (9-2, 5-1) at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 at Racetrack Park in Edgerton. Utica holds a one game lead over Evansville for first place in the Southeast South standings.
