    Attorney General's Office releases Nyah Mway body cam footage

    The New York State Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation released a statement on the death of Nyah Mway and clips of the bodycam footage of that fateful night.

    The Office of Special Investigation said it is currently conducting its investigation into the death of 13-year-old Nyah Mway, who died on June 29 following an encounter with members of the Utica Police Department .

    “The release of this footage is not an expression of any opinion as to the guilt or innocence of any party in a criminal matter or any opinion as to how or whether any individual may be charged with a crime,” OSI wrote.

    The video released by OSI is one minute and 30 seconds of Officer Bryce Patterson and Officer Patrick Husnay.

    These videos are identical to the ones released by the Utica Police Department, except Nyah Mway’s face is unblurred.

    The videos show the stop of Nyah Mway and an unidentified male; Nyah Mway fleeing police; the struggle on the ground with Officer Bryce Patterson; the fatal shot by Officer Patrick Husnay; and the aftermath.

    The Utica Police Department has already released the body cam footage in full and released a breakdown of the video with narration

    The New York State Attorney General’s Office also is investigating the death of Mway.

    The investigation is ongoing and can take anywhere from a few months to a year before the office renders a verdict.
