Update: Fire In Sonora Off South Washington Street
Update at 2:25 p.m.: Fire crews have made progress on a fire burning off South Washington Street near Highway 108. Sonora Police report that the fire’s forward spread has been stopped. The fire’s size is estimated at a quarter to a half acre. No structures have been threatened. Police report, “Although forward progression has stopped, evacuation warnings remain in place out of an abundance of caution.” The areas impacted are Symon and Crooked lanes. All aircraft have been called off the scene. A small ground crew will continue to work towards full containment while mopping up for about an hour. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
