Thompson Fire in Northern California forces thousands to evacuate as blaze rages uncontained
More than 28,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes due to a wildfire in northern California, officials said Wednesday. The Thompson Fire broke out Tuesday morning in Oroville, approximately 65 miles north of Sacramento. By Wednesday morning, the fire had grown to 3,002 acres with zero containment, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire. The cause is under investigation.
