PRIMERA, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A new municipal complex featuring a city hall, police station and public works building is coming to the City of Primera.

City officials broke ground on the new project Wednesday morning.

The project, also known as the Primera Municipal Complex, aims to improve city services and meet the demand of its residents.

“We’ve definitely outgrown our facility,” said Dave Kusch, Mayor of Primera.

Primera currenly has one office building that serves as the main location for all city departments.

Mayor Kusch and city officials initated the project in response to Primera’s continuous growth.

In 2020, the U.S. census reported there are 5,200 residents living in Primera.

Kusch estimates that by the end of 2025, Primera will increase in population and be home to 9,000 residents.

“This [project] will provide a cornerstone and a facility that the citizens of Primera can be proud of. They can come and look at and say, ‘Yes, this is my city.'”

The city hopes the municipal complex can create jobs, boost local economic growth and provide a better working environment for city employees.

“The City of Primera is a fantastic place we’re proud of,” Kusch said.

Construction is underway for the Primera Municipal Complex. The new facility is expected to be complete by July 2025.
