Annual Back-to-School Health Fair set for Pharr

HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — RGV Promotions presents its annual Back to School event.

The organization’s news release says it is an Upper Valley event as some school districts have not started school yet.

Now in its seventh year, the event will have giveaway hundreds of backpacks and school supplies. There will also be a health fair as well with free screenings, visual, dental, and hearing test screenings.

Event spokesperson Marie Martinez explains how this event primarily targets the parents.

“This event is targeting all the parents who are not able to get the kids ready on their own. We’re helping. We’re stepping in, and we’re helping get these kids ready to go back to school. We’re giving free haircuts, free backpacks, free school supplies, and free screenings. We’re doing all of this for free. It is to help out the community, all of these parents that can’t do it on their own,” said Martinez.

Mark your calendars for Friday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jose “Pepe” Salinas Recreation Center located at 1011 W. Kelly Ave. in Pharr.
