Jackson County Fair opens, Fair Queen crowned
BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – The 2024 Jackson County Fair got underway Sunday evening in Brownstown and continues today, Monday, July 22, through this Saturday, July 27. One of the initial events was choosing the Jackson County Fair Queen Court on Sunday evening. Carly Kaiser was selected as the 2024 Jackson County Fair Queen. The first Runner Up was Lily Stogdill, and the second Runner Up went to Camryn Thompson. The honor of Miss Congeniality was bestowed upon Erin Lee.

Bridge work between Jonesville and Seymour begins
JONESVILLE, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors, Inc. began bridge rehabilitation on Monday along State Road 11 over the John Thompson County Ditch, between Seymour and Jonesville in Jackson County. Current bridge work on State Road 11 over East Fork White River overflow will be completed before the start of additional bridge work.

June unemployment rates up for local counties
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Monday that the June unemployment rates increased for south-central Indiana counties compared to May. For Bartholomew County, the June rate was 3.9%, up from May’s 3.4%. The county reported 42,222 employed residents out of a 43,914-person labor force.
