Ivy Tech Graduate James Alger named recipient of nationwide Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship
Big things are in store for 2024 Ivy Tech Community College Graduate James Alger, who was recently announced as a recipient of the nationwide Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Scholarship Program. As a recipient, Alger will have the next two years of his education paid for by the DoD as he attends Purdue University Northwest (PNW) in Hammond for his bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity followed by two years of working for Naval Surface Warfare Center (Crane Division) in Crane, Indiana, allowing him to further explore his passion for the field like never before.
ACT Research reports declining trailer orders
COLUMBUS, Ind. – Orders for trailers dropped sharply in the month of June. According to ACT Research, June net trailer orders, at 6,300 units, were 19% lower than this time last year, however, orders were 275 units above May’s intake. June’s order tally brings net orders in the fiscal year’s second quarter to 26,000 units which is a 14% drop from the second quarter of 2023. and closes the first half of 2024 with 74.5k net orders placed, according to ACT Research.
Accelera by Cummins awarded $75M grant from DOE
Cummins Inc. announced that it was awarded $75 million to convert approximately 360,000 sq. ft. of existing manufacturing space at its Columbus, Ind. Engine Plant (CEP) for zero-emissions components and electric powertrain systems. The $75 million grant is the largest federal grant ever awarded solely to Cummins and is part of the appropriations related to the Inflation Reduction Act, the company said.
