Mother of Lake Macbride drowning victim pleads for help getting his body home to Guatemala
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The family of a 20-year-old man who drowned in Lake Macbride last week is raising money to bring his body home to Guatemala. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says Yonathan Rivera-Brito was struggling to swim when he disappeared under the water and drowned on July 31st.

Cedar Rapids man charged after fights at Ped Mall in Iowa City
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - A Cedar Rapids man has been charged in connection to a couple of fights that happened at the Ped Mall in Iowa City last month. In a criminal complaint, police said 18-year-old Avonus Hodges was involved in a physical fight with a group of people at the corner of College Street and Dubuque Street in the Ped Mall just before 1 a.m. on July 21.
