Comment: The superb sophomore won the CIF-Southern Section individual title by firing an 8-under-par 64 at the Individual Championship & SCGA Qualifying Tournament on Thursday at Temecula Creek Golf Club. Emberson had a bogey-free round to win by one shot and helped the Lions take fourth place with a team total of 363 to advance to the CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championship on Wednesday at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills. Emberson, who won the Marmonte League individual title, reached the CIF-SS Individuals by placing second with a 65 at the Northern Individual Regional Tournament.

School: Royal

Year: Sophomore

Sport: Track and field

Comment: The sophomore continued her sensation sprint season, breaking her own school records while finishing second in the 100-meter dash in 11.54 seconds and the 200 in 23.72 at the CIF-Southern Section Track and Field Masters meet on Saturday at Moorpark High to qualify for the state championships in both events. Kirk had set the school records a week earlier at the CIF-SS Championships, when she took second in the 100 (11.68) and 200 (23.86) in the Division 2 meet. She also won Marmonte League titles in both events. The state meet will be this Friday and Saturday in Clovis.
