    2024 Matthew Berry Challenge

Can I just go on a rant before I get started here? Many people might be wondering why I continue to attack Matthew Berry. Well… I think he sucks at fantasy football, which is why we created the Matthew Berry Challenge, so there’s that. But really that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s dopes like this who view Berry as a god when he’s not even talented at what he does.

Mike Wright from the Fantasy Footballers on the Awful Announcing Podcast :

“I would not have my job right now if it weren’t for Matthew Berry,” Wright told host Brandon Contes. “He has done so much for the growth of fantasy football. He single-handedly worked his way to ESPN and got them to actually start paying attention to what’s going on. Berry is one of my industry friends. I’ve hung out and talked with Berry many, many different times. I respect what he does, and he has, unfortunately, had to respect what we do.”

WTF did this dummy just say? He wouldn’t have a job without Matthew Berry? That’s so laughable.

Dude… Mike… have a job because of the work YOU put in. The idea that anybody has a job in the fantasy industry because of Berry is wrong and laughable. If anything, Berry should be forced to donate his salary after I killed him last year.

Fantasy football would have eventually become popular with or without Berry and it’s not really arguable. I’ve been playing fantasy football since I was like eight years old and well before Berry ever got his job at ESPN. By the way, Berry got his job at ESPN in 2007. I can promise you fantasy football was thriving 20 years before ESPN ever hired him to do that job. ESPN not investing in fantasy sooner is a them problem. I don’t understand why that’s so hard to understand.

Please stop treating this guy like a god. He’s a regular person that really doesn’t know anything about football. I kicked his ass last year to the point where he should be embarrassed and I plan on doing it again. He had maybe the worst call in fantasy football history last year and was never accountable for it. He also doesn’t watch college football and has no gauge for the young players coming into the league. This guy Berry makes millions upon millions of dollars per year to be totally mediocre at fantasy, and that’s being generous.

By the way, before I begin, that Fantasy Footballers show is everything that’s wrong with fantasy football. It’s not surprising that loser Mike Wright has that take because the show they run is so elementary it should make any real fantasy player sick to their stomach. The Fantasy Footballers show dedicates their product to a one QB PPR snake draft. Trust me, I tried to watch the show to see what the hype was about. That show just flat-out sucks. Just a total amateur-hour product that nobody who knows anything about fantasy takes seriously.

Oh, I almost forgot. We used to have a writer on staff who loved that Fantasy Footballers show. He was one of the dumber people I ever brought onto the team. He wrote this article and was fired a long time ago with his name removed from the site. That should tell you everything you need to know…

Before we announce the picks this year, let me just say one thing nice about Berry. I don’t think his written columns are terrible. In fact, he might even be the 9th best writer on the Vendetta Sports Media staff if I were to power rank them. Credit to Berry for being really good at writing 2,000 words before you even get to the meat and potatoes of his actual column. Don’t say I didn’t try to be nice about all of this!

The fantasy and karma gods favor Trey. Don’t forget that.
