Weeklong GenNext Makers Camp promoting careers in Lima
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima holding its GenNext Makers Camp to promote careers right here in Lima. Monday was Teamwork Day, where students had to complete several activities that required teamwork to achieve the goal. Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith joined the fun by participating in one of the activities.
Growing STEM: Nursing opportunities abound at Mercy Health St. Rita's

For Harley Pajari, she wanted to find a career where she could support her young son, and found herself earning her Licensed Practical Nursing, or LPN degree. She's now moving through the ranks to continue her education.
Lima Rotary Club hears about the benefits of Allen Lima Leadership program
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Rotary Club heard more about the Allen Lima Leadership program on Monday. Allen Lima Leadership celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Since 1989, over 1000 people have graduated from the courses, and the program is continuously improving the curriculum and adding more interactive lessons with local business and government leaders. Students enrolled learn all about how the organizations and companies that make Lima run smoothly operate and how they can apply the skills used by their leaders to improve their own careers and communities. Many Rotarians are graduates themselves.
Made for the Stage Youth Theatre Workshop kicks off, spots still available
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's lights, camera, and action for the third Made for the Stage Youth Theatre Workshop. The acting bug in more than a dozen students brought them to the workshop, some for the first time, and others for the third time. They are learning all aspects of acting, including auditioning, directing, writing, and more.
Freedom School students at the Bradfield gets a visit from Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Mayor Sharetta Smith made a stop at the Freedom School at the Bradfield Community Center to see what students have been learning. Hundreds pack Maumee meeting, furious about sewer inspection ordinance
When she put a house on West John Street up for sale recently, Patti Savage-McNamara got an expensive surprise thanks to Maumee’s new sewer-inspection requirement. The newly mandated inspection, she said, resulted in an order to do $46,500 worth of work to comply with city regulations: $20,000 to replace a clay pipe in the house’s sewer feed, and $26,500 to put a sump pump in its unfinished basement. “I literally started crying in the driveway. How did I get in this mess?” Ms. Savage-McNamara told The Blade before a community meeting she organized Monday evening to dig into Maumee’s new inspection rules and brainstorm ways they might be changed. Comedy and cannabis: Jokes & Tokes Comedy Club brings something different to Dayton
There’s no typical two-drink minimum at a new comedy club in Dayton because its owners wanted people to experience comedy in a much different way. The Jokes & Tokes Comedy Club opened April 20 inside of Delta Dispo at 460 S. Patterson Road in Dayton. Delta Dispo, a dispensary, opened on April 1. The dispensary offers a variety of hemp products from flower to edibles. All their products contain less than .3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which does not classify them as controlled substances, according to the 2018 Farm Bill.
