Two Oregon lumber mills on opposite ends of the state are shutting down, the latest in a long line of closures. Western Cascade Industries’ mill — which employs 50 people at its 25-year-old site in Toledo — is slated to fully shut down Thursday, according to the Lincoln County Leader.

Heat turns dangerous by late week for Portland and entire state

A Heat Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, will go into effect starting Thursday at 11 a.m. and last until 11 p.m. This includes the entire Willamette Valley and Rogue Valley down to the California border.
